About The Interpreter Initiative

The Interpreter Initiative has a clear vision and set of goals. We decided to establish such a business to support the Deaf community and amazing interpreters that work alongside it.
The company was first established in 2021 with only the best intentions in mind. We believed that we could provide first class support to both the Deaf and Interpreting community. Having gained experience in the interpreting world and the business world, we are constantly adapting to best suit as many people as we can.

Tom Holroyd
Director, Registered Sign Language Interpreter
and Registrant Trustee for the NRCPD
Tom is the original founder of the company and set it up in response to the lack of Interpreter agencies with real work experience and awareness of Deaf culture and the Language.
Tom has worked in the industry for 6 years, after finishing his degree in British Sign Language and Deaf Studies. During this time he has done a post graduate degree in British Sign Language Interpreting and become a trustee for the National Register of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People.

Andy Rimmer
Co-Director and Registered British Sign Language Interpreter
Andy studied at university with Tom on the British Sign Language and Deaf studies degree and has continued to be a treasured colleague and friend. Andy is an experienced BSL Interpreter and recently qualified as a fully registered Interpreter, and has worked in a variety of settings.
Andy's career, experience, expertise and collaborative nature has made him the perfect candidate to help the company grow; and was the first person Tom welcomed into the team, back in 2021.
